Inmet warns of potential danger of intense rains in all cities of Paraíba
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued a yellow alert for potential heavy rainfall across all cities in Paraíba.
On Friday, October 13, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) announced a yellow alert indicating the potential danger of intense rainfall for all municipalities in Paraíba, Brazil. This alert is in effect until 11:59 PM the same day. The warning suggests that rainfall could reach between 20 to 30 millimeters per hour, accompanied by winds up to 60 km/h. Although the risk of power outages and falling trees is considered low during this period, residents are advised to remain cautious.
Prior to the yellow alert, on October 12, Inmet had issued an orange alert due to heavy rains, reflecting heightened concerns for the region. Certain areas, such as Cajazeiras in the Paraíba Sertão, experienced rainfall exceeding monthly averages. Such weather patterns may disrupt daily life and pose risks to infrastructure, prompting local authorities to proactively communicate potential hazards to the community.
In light of the warnings, the public has been encouraged to report emergencies to civil defense services at 199 or to the fire department at 193. These measures indicate a broader effort to protect residents and mitigate the impacts of severe weather in the area, underlining the importance of preparedness amidst changing climatic conditions in Brazil.
