Maranhense startup trains over 5,000 women in vulnerable situations and aims to train 20,000 by 2030
The Maranhense startup Ela Faz has trained over 5,000 women in vulnerable situations through its educational platform and plans to expand this reach significantly by 2030.
Ela Faz, a startup from Maranhão focused on empowering women through professional training, has emerged as a significant success story thanks to Brazil's Centelha Program. Operating in 19 Brazilian states, the startup offers both online and in-person courses that have already benefited more than 5,000 women, with a notable 80% reporting increased income after participation. This focus on education and skill development not only provides practical benefits but also enhances the confidence among the women, enabling many to take up leadership roles in their communities.
Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 by entrepreneur Lívia Viana, Ela Faz aims to bridge the gap in gender parity through targeted training programs. Initially offering workshops in practical skills such as home repairs, basic electrical work, and painting, the startup has evolved to include a broader range of courses that cater to the unique needs of women. Viana emphasizes that the initiative transcends mere statistics, highlighting transformative personal stories of women who, having gained skills and confidence through the program, are now leading projects and inspiring change in their communities.
Looking ahead, Ela Faz is determined to scale its efforts and train an additional 15,000 women by 2030. This ambitious goal reflects a growing recognition of the importance of gender equity in the workforce and the powerful impact that education can have on social mobility. As the startup continues to expand its reach, it serves as a model for similar initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalized groups and promoting sustainable development.
