Nothing changes: "Lidl" grocery basket in February is again the cheapest
A recent study revealed that Lidl offers the cheapest grocery basket among the five largest retail chains in Lithuania for February.
On February 3rd, undercover shoppers from 'SeeNext' visited the largest retail chains in Vilnius and Kaunas to assess grocery prices. They found that a basket comprising 29 items from various food categories, including dairy, meat, grains, and produce, was cheapest at Lidl. Specifically, dairy products had a price of 7.44 euros at Lidl, which is 0.53 euros lower than the most expensive competitor for those goods on the same day.
The study further indicated that Lidl also had the lowest prices for meat products, with the total for those items reaching 14.70 euros, showing a price difference of 2.06 euros compared to the most expensive chain. Additionally, vegetables and fruits were again cheapest at Lidl, costing 4.32 euros, which is 1.32 euros less than the competitor offering the highest price for those categories.
These findings suggest that Lidl continues to maintain its price advantage in Lithuania's competitive grocery market. This ongoing trend could influence consumer behavior, as more shoppers may gravitate towards Lidl for daily necessities, potentially impacting the pricing strategies of its competitors in response to this persistent price disparity.
