A study revealed which store had the cheapest and which had the most expensive basket of goods
A recent study examined the prices of essential grocery items across various supermarket chains in Lithuania, revealing significant price differences.
A recent study in Lithuania evaluated the prices of grocery items across multiple supermarket chains on March 3. The findings indicated that Lidl offered the lowest total price for a basket of goods at €37.78, followed by Maxima at €38.80, while the highest prices were found at Iki at €42.41. The price disparities highlight how regional grocery chains can vary significantly in their pricing strategies.
Among the categories analyzed, dairy products were cheapest at Iki for €7.51, whereas Norfa recorded the highest price at €7.89. In terms of meat, Lidl again offered the lowest price at €14.70 compared to the highest price seen at Rimi for €17.35. These results suggest that consumers in Lithuania might benefit from being price-conscious and comparing prices across different supermarkets to maximize their savings on essential goods.
The study also explored other food categories, such as grains, fruits, and vegetables, where Lidl consistently had lower prices compared to other competitors like Norfa and Rimi. The price for beverages was similarly lowest at Lidl at €2.15 versus Norfa's €3.80. This comprehensive price comparison serves as a useful guide for Lithuania's consumers, encouraging them to shop wisely and select supermarkets that offer better deals on their preferred products.
