On the Border with Belarus, No Illegal Migrants Recorded for 22 Days

Lithuanian border authorities have reported that there have been no illegal migrants attempting to cross from Belarus for 22 days, reflecting a significant decrease compared to previous years.

According to the Lithuanian border guards, there have been no incidents of illegal migrants trying to cross into the country from Belarus for a duration of 22 days. This marks a notable trend, as in previous years, particularly during the height of the migration crisis in 2021, the region saw a dramatic influx of migrants attempting to enter the European Union via Belarus. The situation at the borders has improved considerably compared to 2021, when thousands tried to illegally cross over into Lithuania from Belarus. In fact, this year, only 14 illegal migrants have been denied entry into Lithuania, showcasing a stark contrast with the over 1,600 attempts recorded last year.
