Speed limits to be set in Vecpiebalga due to road surface defects

Speed limits of 70 kilometers per hour will be imposed on the Cēsis-Vecpiebalga-Madona regional road due to surface defects.

In Latvia, the VSIA "Latvijas valsts ceļi" (LVC) announced that speed limits will be enforced on the P30 regional road from the railway overpass to Vecpiebalga, restricting vehicles to 70 kilometers per hour. This decision comes as a response to defects found in the road surface, which resurfaced last year using surface treatment technology. The freezing winter conditions and traffic have caused stones to dislodge from the surface in certain areas.

To mitigate the risk of vehicle damage, this speed reduction is being implemented while nearby construction company SIA "Limbažu ceļi" pledges to repair the defects using its own funds once weather conditions allow. Until the repairs are completed, the company will also undertake the task of sweeping away the loose stones from the affected areas, ensuring safer travel conditions on this segment of the road.

The LVC, established in late 2004, is a state-owned company responsible for managing the national road network in Latvia. They oversee the financing of the national road infrastructure and conduct procurement for state requirements, managing over 20,000 kilometers of roads. This proactive response to road safety highlights the ongoing need for maintenance and monitoring of public infrastructure to prevent accidents and damage to vehicles throughout the region.
