Drugged and Robbed by Pretending to be a Retired Soldier, Chain, Mobile, and Cash Stolen on the Train

A major incident of drugging and robbery occurred aboard the Sambalpur Jammu Tawi train, where two Jharkhand devotees were deceived by a man posing as a retired soldier.

A significant crime unfolded on the Sambalpur Jammu Tawi train involving two devotees from Jharkhand, returning from a pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi. The perpetrator, masquerading as a retired soldier, offered the victims prasad in the form of snacks that contained some kind of sedative. Soon after consuming the prasad, both victims lost consciousness, allowing the assailant to steal their gold jewelry, mobile phones, cash, and other personal belongings.

According to reports, the victims were part of a group of 28 pilgrims from the districts of Ramgarh and Ranchi in Jharkhand, who had embarked on this pilgrimage on February 3rd. During their return journey, they traveled in seats 9 and 12 of coach S6 when the incident occurred. As the train pulled into Ludhiana station, the suspect, who posed as a Sikh gentleman, boarded and requested a seat from the victims, who kindly obliged and allowed him to sit with them.

After having successfully drugged the two unsuspecting devotees, the thief escaped with their valuables. This incident raises serious concerns about safety measures aboard trains in India, particularly for pilgrims and travelers, as it highlights the ongoing threat of petty crime that targets vulnerable individuals. The authorities may need to investigate this incident further to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
