The revelation from a masculine walk! Traveled in the ladies' coach of the train disguised in a burqa
A 57-year-old man was detained in Nashik for traveling in the women's coach of a local train while disguised in a burqa, sparking an investigation by the Government Railway Police.
In a peculiar incident in Maharashtra, a 57-year-old man was arrested for allegedly traveling in the women's coach of a local train while wearing a burqa. The event took place on February 6 at Ghatkopar railway station, but it gained attention only after a video of the incident went viral on social media the following day. Despite the absence of a formal complaint from any female passenger, the seriousness of the situation prompted the Government Railway Police (GRP) to initiate a detailed inquiry into the matter.
The arrested individual was identified as Sheikh Altaf Hussain Ishaq, who was apprehended in the Mukti Dham area of Nashik. During the investigation, police reviewed CCTV footage from both Ghatkopar and Thane stations. These recordings captured the suspect disembarking from the general compartment of the Patliputra Express at Thane station on the same day. He was later seen boarding a local train, and further investigation revealed his presence in a burqa at the Igatpuri and Nashik Road stations, indicating a premeditated attempt to evade detection in the women's compartment.
Additionally, one video showed the accused jumping over a fence at Nashik Road station, suggesting a deliberate escape strategy. Authorities have faced criticism over safety protocols within the train compartments, as such incidents raise concerns about the security of female passengers in public transport systems. The broader implications of this incident may spur discussions on the need for increased vigilance and protective measures in securing womenโs spaces in transit environments.
