Charity event to donate electricity devices to Ukraine
Today, a charity initiative called "Warmth for Ukraine from Latvia" seeks donations from Latvian citizens and businesses to support Ukraine's energy sector, which has been devastated by Russia.
A charity event titled "Warmth for Ukraine from Latvia" will be officially launched today at 12 PM, encouraging the participation of Latvian citizens and businesses in donating to support Ukraine’s energy sector. This initiative comes as Ukraine faces critical challenges due to the destruction caused by the ongoing conflict with Russia, which has significantly impacted its energy infrastructure. The event aims to gather vital tools and resources needed to assist in the restoration of energy facilities devastated by Russian assaults.
According to Ilze Ošāne from the charity organization "Ziedot.lv", a press conference is scheduled at the Congress Hall in Riga, which will feature important figures discussing the goals of the charity campaign and the specifics of the donations prepared for Ukraine. Attendees will include Rūta Dimanta, head of "Ziedot.lv", Sandis Jansons, chairman of the board at AS "Sadales tīkls", and representatives from the Economic Ministry and the Ukrainian embassy in Latvia, underlining the collaborative effort to provide necessary support to Ukraine.
In addition to the press conference, a "Point of Resilience" will be established at the Congress Hall, where visitors can donate and receive warm tea, breakfast, and traditional Ukrainian borscht for lunch and dinner throughout the day. This initiative not only aims to collect donations but also to engage the community in a meaningful way, fostering solidarity with Ukraine amidst the humanitarian crisis caused by the war. The participation of various organizations, including the Zemessardze (National Guard), demonstrates a united front in support of Ukraine during these challenging times.
