Subway and city buses will run until 1 AM on the day of the holiday and the following day

On the day of the holiday and the following day, Seoul's subway and city buses will extend their operating hours until 1 AM.

On the day of the holiday and the following day, the Seoul city subway and bus services will operate until 1 AM, according to a special transportation plan announced by the city government on the 9th. This initiative is aimed at accommodating commuters who need transportation after the festive celebrations, with applicable dates being the holiday itself and the following day, the 17th and 18th of January. The last trains on the subway will reach their terminus by this extended time, which impacts lines 1 through 9, as well as the Ui-Sinseol line and Sinlim line, resulting in an increase of 128 train runs over the two days, which breaks down to 64 additional runs each day.

In addition to the subway, the city will also extend the operating hours of 121 city bus routes that connect major stations and terminals, such as the Seoul Express Bus Terminal and Yongsan Station, until 1 AM. The 1 AM cutoff refers to the scheduled passing times of buses at key stops near train stations and express bus terminals. Furthermore, the Night Owl Bus service, consisting of 14 routes, will operate as usual throughout the holiday.

To accommodate families visiting the city's municipal cemetery during the holiday period, additional bus services will be provided to the Mangwoo Municipal Cemetery, with 76 extra trips for routes 201, 262, and 270 over the 17th and 18th. Additionally, a specialized 'cemetery support bus' service for wheelchair-disabled individuals and their families will be available until the 14th to facilitate visits. The operating hours for the bus-only lanes on the Gyeongbu Expressway will also be extended to run from 7 AM to 1 AM the following day during the holiday. Traffic updates can be accessed through the Seoul city website or its transportation information system, and inquiries can be made via the 120 Dasan Call Center.
