You can now stay up late: Metrobús extends its hours on Lines 1, 2, and 7 for weekends

The Metrobús in Mexico City will extend its service hours until 1:00 AM on weekends for three of its lines.

The Metrobús system in Mexico City has announced an extension of its service hours, allowing passengers to travel until 1:00 AM on weekends for Lines 1, 2, and 7. This comes as part of an effort to provide better access to public transportation for residents and visitors during late-night hours, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays. The new schedule will take effect immediately, enhancing the convenience for night owls in the city.

The extension will see buses operating with an approximate interval of 10 minutes past midnight, after which the last departures from the Insurgentes station will occur at 1:00 AM towards the terminals El Caminero and Indios Verdes. Throughout weekdays, the system will continue to operate as usual from 4:30 AM to midnight, maintaining its regular service patterns. This change is particularly significant given the growing demand for late-night transport options in urban areas.

The regular fare of six pesos will remain unchanged even with the extended hours, making it an affordable option for users. Passengers can access the service using the Integrated Mobility Card, credit or debit bank cards, as well as smartwatches and mobile phones. By facilitating late-night travel, this move is expected to support nightlife and provide safe transportation options for late-shift workers, contributing positively to the city’s economy and social scene.
