Marko Kilp and Tatjana Mannima emerged victorious in the Alutaguse Marathon, held at the Estoloppet series.
The Alutaguse Marathon, a 45-kilometer classical skiing race, saw Marko Kilp and Tatjana Mannima claim victory in their respective categories. Kilp won the men's group finish with a time of 2:00:09, equalling the time of last year's champion Henri Roos and Raido Ränkel, though they trailed Kilp just milliseconds behind. Young competitors Cristopher Kalev and Albert Unn finished just a second later, highlighting a tightly-contested race. Ralf Kivil finished in sixth place, over four minutes behind the leaders.
Tatjana Mannima stood out among the female competitors, finishing 46th overall, but securing the top position among women participants. She was closely followed by Merilin Jürisaar, who took second place, and Aveli Juursalu, who secured third. Over 400 skiers took part in this challenging marathon, marking an impressive turnout for the event, which is part of the wider Estoloppeti series that encourages skiing enthusiasts across the region.
Looking ahead, the Tartu Marathon is scheduled for next weekend, promising more excitement in Estonia's winter sports calendar. The Alutaguse Marathon not only brought together passionate skiers but also showcased the competitive spirit inherent in Estonian winter sports, as participants continue to strive for excellence in this demanding terrain.
