Estonian BMX riders showed high level in European cup series
Estonian BMX riders demonstrated impressive performance in the European BMX series held in Verona, Italy, with notable placements among competitors.
From March 12 to 15, the first two rounds of the BMX European Cup series took place in Verona, Italy, where Estonian riders showcased their competitive edge right from the season's opener. In particular, Sten Tristan Raid competed fiercely in the men's junior category, narrowly missing the finals by finishing ninth out of 110 participants. Despite struggling with illness prior to the event, which he acknowledged impacted his performance, Raid was pleased with his speed during the competitions.
In the same junior category, Luukas Lajal and Oliver-Siim Simenson finished in 73rd and 101st place, respectively, with their results from the previous event being 25th for Raid, 74th for Simenson, and 90th for Lajal. The first day of competition brought success for two Estonians, as Ryan Oks achieved second place in the B9 category behind German rider Luke Hamrs, while Andren Kaju claimed second place in the Cruisers 17-29 class, trailing Belgian Jan-Viktor Vrankx.
The performances of these young athletes highlight Estonia's growing presence in the international BMX racing circuit. Their accomplishments, particularly amidst the challenges presented by illness and tough competition, indicate a promising future for Estonian BMX riders in upcoming events and potential future championships.
