Celec incorporates energy in Santa Elena to normalize the electric service
Celec has added three megawatts to the electric system of Santa Elena to enhance electricity service, with plans for more additions in the coming weeks.
This weekend, the Ecuadorian Electric Corporation (Celec) announced the addition of three megawatts (MW) to Santa Elena's electric system on March 20. This addition was made through the Chanduy substation, while efforts continue to include an additional 12 MW from the Pechiche substation. Both substation projects are part of the National Electricity Corporation (CNEL), which is responsible for the electric supply in the region. These enhancements aim to stabilize the electricity service in that province, where fluctuating power supply has been a significant issue.
Celec also outlined their plans to further improve the energy supply by incorporating 6 MW from the La Libertad substation starting March 26. With these efforts, the corporation is working toward achieving full coverage of the provinceβs electricity consumption. This initiative is crucial as it addresses the ongoing challenges in power supply and aims to ensure a reliable and efficient electrical service for the residents of Santa Elena.
Additionally, Celec mentioned that the temporary rental of energy from private providers is being managed through an insurance company to fund these initiatives. The corporation is also tasked with supplying fuel for the operations of the units required for the electricity service, showcasing a comprehensive approach to overcoming the supply challenges faced in the region.
