Health Minister confirms no reforms will occur without compromise on salary changes discussed in the Tripartite Health Care Team meeting.
On March 16, during a session of the Tripartite Health Care Team, there was no compromise reached regarding proposed changes to the health care salary increase law. The Ministry of Health reported that without agreement on these changes, no progress would be made regarding health care salaries. Union representatives expressed deep concerns about the proposals, arguing that they needed broader reforms to rectify systemic issues rather than just modifying salary rates.
The proposed amendment aimed to delay the planned salary increase for medical personnel, originally scheduled for July, to January 2027 and to lower the overall growth rate for salaries. This proposal raised significant opposition from medical unions, which are demanding comprehensive reforms within the health care system itself. Scheduled protests against the suggested amendments indicate the deep unrest within the healthcare community as they seek accountability and fair treatment for their essential work.
The Ministry of Health stated that without consensus among all involved parties, the changes to the salary law would not materialize. The ongoing negotiations highlight the critical and ongoing struggles within Poland's healthcare sector as medical professionals continue to seek support and recognition of their contributions, particularly in light of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing labor issues in the industry.
