In a thrilling finish, Norwegian Juhans Olavs Botns claimed victory, crossing the finish line 3.7 seconds ahead of German biathlete Philipp Navrat and 13.7 seconds ahead of the overall World Cup champion, Frenchman Eric Perrot who faced penalties during the race. Lozbers, despite being significantly younger than his competitors, managed to hold his own in the race, finishing 2:25.2 behind Botns.
