In an impressive debut at the World Cup pursuit event, Latvian biathlete Rihards Lozbers secured a 31st place finish, marking a significant milestone in his racing career. He completed the race by navigating five penalty loops, showcasing great determination despite the challenging conditions. His performance allows him to earn his first competitive points on the international stage, which is a notable achievement for a newcomer in the sport.

In the same event, fellow Latvian biathletes Renārs Birkentāls and Andrejs Rastorgujevs finished in 37th and 42nd place respectively. Birkentāls faced challenges during the shooting segment, mistakenly firing on four occasions, while Rastorgujevs managed to leave six targets unscathed. The race was won by Norway's Sturla Holm Lægreid, who started from the first position and only missed once in his shooting, crossing the finish line well ahead of his competitors with a notable margin.

Rastorgujevs started his race in 36th place, one minute and 48 seconds behind the leader, while Lozbers began in 47th, positioned two minutes and two seconds behind Lægreid. Birkentāls was given the penultimate start number due to the 60 participants in the event, signaling the increasing competition the athletes are facing as they strive for success in the World Cup series.
