Angus promotes the certification of heifers to improve the genetic base and add value in breeding
The Argentine Angus Association has launched a new program to certify heifers, aimed at enhancing the genetic base of the breed and providing producers with a valuable marketing tool.
The Argentine Angus Association has officially introduced its Certified Angus Heifers (TAC) program, targeting both member and non-member producers who aim to strengthen the breed's productive base through the selection and certification of heifer mothers from the outset. This initiative allows producers to select the best heifers for both replacement and marketing under the Angus brand, all within a streamlined and technically supervised framework.
Amadeo Derito, president of the Association, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that the choice of replacement heifers is a crucial decision in any cattle raising operation. By providing a tool that organizes selections, guarantees quality, and offers institutional backing, the Association aims to add value from the very first link in the production chain. This strategy not only enhances productivity among Angus herds but also reinforces the brand's reputation.
The implementation of the TAC program is a significant step forward for the breed, inviting producers to take part in elevating the standards of Angus cattle and fostering quality in the overall production system. As the Angus Association actively promotes this certification, it signifies a commitment to enhancing genetic quality and meeting market demands for superior Angus beef products, potentially boosting the profitability for ranchers and contributing to the industry's growth overall.
