Certified Angus Heifers: a program was presented to enhance selection and marketing
The Argentine Angus Association introduced the Certified Angus Heifers program to improve the selection and marketing of Angus heifers for breeders.
The Argentine Angus Association has launched the Certified Angus Heifers (TAC) program, aimed at both affiliated and non-affiliated producers. This initiative is designed to enhance the selection and commercialisation of Angus females, ensuring institutional support and increased commercial predictability for breeders. The program seeks to provide a structured framework that helps breeders identify and either retain or sell their best Angus heifers with confidence, leveraging the reputation of the leading brand.
The key components of the TAC program focus on ensuring quality controls at the breeder's establishment. To be eligible, heifers must be weaned, and the minimum quantity for control is one pen, allowing for a straightforward and technically supervised marketing process. Importantly, there is no requirement for tattooing these heifers; instead, they will be appropriately marked, ensuring ease of identification at points of sale. This marks a significant step towards modernising Angus heifer management in Argentina.
By providing a clear structure for selection and marketing, the TAC program is set to empower breeders with the tools they need to optimise their production and commercial potential. This initiative not only promises to uphold high standards in breeding but also aims to bolster the Angus brand in the market, potentially leading to better prices and increased economic stability for producers in the cattle market.
