A shocking case of fraud and conspiracy has emerged in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a man impersonated an IAS officer to deceive a family during a lavish wedding and extorted 1.5 million rupees.

In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, a startling case of deception has unfolded where a young man pretended to be an IAS officer to swindle a family during an extravagant wedding ceremony. The fraudster, who claimed his name was Pritam from Etawah, tricked the victim's family into believing his false credentials by sharing fabricated documents, interview videos, and photographs posing with politicians. His deceitful approach included initially stating that he did not require dowry, only to later demand substantial sums as wedding expenses.

The victim family, residing in the Mohaddipur area of Cantt police station in Gorakhpur, was in search of a suitable match for their daughter when they came across Pritam through a group. Trusting his claims, they invested significantly, ultimately spending about 3 million rupees on the wedding. Initially, they provided 1 million rupees during the engagement and 500,000 rupees during the tilak ceremony. However, after a grand wedding and following the bride's departure to her new home, the family soon learned the distressing truth about the groom's identity, shattering their hopes and trust.

This incident raises alarming concerns regarding the safety and security of families in matrimonial arrangements, especially concerning verification of claims made by prospective grooms. It calls for heightened vigilance and thorough background checks to prevent such deceptive schemes, ensuring that families do not fall prey to fraudulent individuals masquerading under false pretenses in the quest for marriage.
