A gang of fraudulent brides in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was exposed for extorting money from grooms after a wedding, as police arrested several members of the gang.
In Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, police unveiled a gang of fraudulent brides that was involved in luring grooms into marriages and subsequently extorting money from them. The gang was exposed following a complaint from a victimized family after they reported a strange demand for money during their journey back home from a wedding. The police arrested the bride and three accomplices, with ongoing efforts to catch other gang members who may still be at large.
According to reports, the groom's family was traveling from Deoria district back to Rajasthan after the wedding of their son Rohitash with a woman named Suman. During the trip on the Purvanchal Expressway, Suman and her friend Shashi abruptly requested 64,000 rupees from the groom's father, Jagdish, under dubious circumstances where they threatened to falsely implicate him in a legal case if he refused to comply. This alarming situation prompted Jagdish to immediately contact the local police for assistance.
Upon the arrival of the police, they discovered that the bride, Suman, was actually named Muskaan and was already a part of a scam involving multiple victims. Investigations revealed that this group had orchestrated similar schemes before, troubling several families across regions. With the police actively pursuing the remaining members of the gang, this incident raises concerns over the prevalence of such fraudulent schemes in matrimonial situations, necessitating vigilant measures for those involved in arranged marriages in the region.
