Roosleht finished seventh on the first day, American wins men's sprint
Rasmus Roosleht finished the first day of the heptathlon seventh, while an American athlete won the men's sprint at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Torun, Poland.
The World Indoor Athletics Championships commenced in Torun, Poland, where Estonian athlete Rasmus Roosleht ended the first day of the heptathlon in seventh place. His performance started slowly, as he posted a time of 7.17 seconds in the 60-meter sprint and a long jump result of 7.10 meters, placing him last at one point and trailing his personal record by over a hundred points.
However, Roosleht managed to recover in the shot put event, where he achieved a distance of 16.44 meters, earning first place in that discipline and moving up to eighth overall in the competition among 14 participants. He also performed well in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.99 meters, which added to his points tally in comparison to his previous record-setting performances.
As the day concluded, Roosleht accumulated a total of 3333 points, sitting in seventh place overall, and while he was still behind his personal best by 91 points, thereβs optimism for improvement as he aims for a score of around 5970 points in the heptathlon by the end of the championships.
