WATCH LIVE | Roosleht concludes the first day of the World Championships, winners will be determined in three events

Rasmus Roosleht finishes the first day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships in eighth place after completing three events of the heptathlon.

At the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, Estonia's Rasmus Roosleht is currently placed eighth after the first day of the heptathlon, having completed three of the seven events. As the competition progresses, attention turns to the high jump later on Friday evening, where three medal sets will be awarded. Coverage of the evening events will be broadcast live on ETV2, with commentators Helar Osila and Juhan Kilumets providing insights. The ERR sports portal will also feature live updates from the event.

Roosleht's performance started on a disappointing note for Estonian sports fans, as he finished the 60 meters with a time of 7.17 seconds and a long jump result of 7.10 meters, putting him in last place after these two events. He notably lagged behind his personal record pace by over 100 points, indicating an uphill battle for him in the subsequent competitions. Nevertheless, he made a comeback in the shot put, where he achieved a winning throw of 16.44 meters, climbing the rankings to eighth place among fourteen competitors.

Although Roosleht still faces a deficit of exactly 100 points compared to his personal best, moving forward he is positioned on a trajectory that could yield a score of 5960 points if he continues to improve. As the event unfolds, the expectations shift towards the remaining high jump and the potential for Roosleht to secure a strong overall finish in the heptathlon, which will be closely followed by fans and analysts alike.
