An environmental preservation project in Maricá, Brazil, will host a beach cleanup and educational activities on World Water Day.
In celebration of World Water Day, an environmental preservation initiative is taking place at Ponta Negra beach in Maricá, located in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. Scheduled for Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM, this beach cleanup event is free for all participants, and no prior registration is necessary. The event not only aims to clean the beach but also includes environmental education activities to raise awareness among the community.
The initiative is organized by the SIG@S Maricás project in collaboration with the Environmental and Sustainability Secretariat of Maricá. The project focuses on engaging both residents and visitors in discussions about the importance of preserving aquatic and coastal ecosystems. The goal is to promote behavioral changes that encourage sustainability in everyday life.
The organizers expect around 80 participants, including volunteers, students, local residents, and representatives from local institutions. This event represents a significant effort to unite the community around environmental preservation and emphasize the critical need to protect natural resources, aligning with global celebrations of World Water Day.
