With blood bank on alert, hemocenters in MT receive donations this Saturday (21); see which ones
Hemocenters in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande, Brazil, are open for blood donations today due to critical shortages of certain blood types.
Due to a significant decrease in blood reserves, especially among types B- and AB-, the MT Hemocentro units in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande are conducting a special blood donation drive this Saturday, March 21st. This event is crucial as these hemocenters typically only operate Monday through Friday but are opening their doors on Saturdays once a month to encourage public donations. The hours of operation for today have been extended to accommodate donors, running from 7 AM to 8 PM.
The management of the hemocenters has reported that several blood types are currently in critical condition, prompting these urgent calls for donations. Types B- and AB- are under special attention, while O- and O+ are on alert. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges in maintaining adequate blood supplies, which can be vital for numerous medical procedures and emergencies.
In response to this alert, several donation points have been outlined for today's initiative, emphasizing community participation in addressing this crucial need. The MT Hemocentro in Cuiabá and a mobile collection unit stationed at the Secretary of Health's parking area are both accessible to the public, ensuring that individuals can contribute effectively to this life-saving cause.
