Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square was bustling with preparations for the upcoming BTS concert, marking the group's first full performance in over three years.

On the 20th, just one day before BTS's comeback concert, Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul, was busy with final stage preparations, showcasing the intense anticipation surrounding the event. This concert is particularly significant as it marks BTS's return to the stage as a full group after a hiatus of approximately three years and five months since their 'Yet to Come in Busan' concert in October 2022. The area around the venue was crowded with fans, known as 'Armys', who had come from around the world to witness the highly anticipated event.

Research from the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute indicates that a single BTS concert can generate an economic impact of around 1.2 trillion won. This phenomenon, often referred to as 'BTS-nomics', highlights the substantial economic and tourism-related effects that BTS has on the local areas they perform in. As the concert approaches, convenience stores and K-pop merchandise shops have prominently displayed BTS-related items to attract fans and tourists, contributing further to the bustling atmosphere of the city.

However, the excitement surrounding the concert has also led to some community concerns. Local businesses near Gwanghwamun reported pressures such as forced annual leave for employees and operational disruptions due to building restrictions. There were numerous complaints from citizens affected by traffic controls as they navigate the added inconvenience. Kyun Young-guk, the leader of the Justice Party, criticized the situation on Facebook, pointing out that while citizens bear the inconvenience, private companies reap the economic benefits, indicating a need for better management of such large-scale events to balance the interests of fans, local businesses, and residents alike.
