Wedding guests stuck by BTS performance in Gwanghwamun will use police buses to the venue

Police buses will be deployed to assist wedding guests traveling to their ceremony amid traffic disruptions caused by a BTS concert in Gwanghwamun.

On October 21, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will implement a bus service to accommodate wedding guests affected by a concert performed by the popular K-pop group BTS in Gwanghwamun. The decision came after considering the potential inconveniences for guests attending weddings in the area on that day. The buses will operate between Euljiro 3-ga Station and the Korea Press Center from 3 PM until the wedding ceremonies begin at 4 PM. Both the engaged couple and the police reached an agreement to facilitate this transportation option.

During the BTS concert, which is set to start later that evening, there will be significant traffic restrictions in the Gwanghwamun area. Key subway stations near the concert venue, including Gwanghwamun Station and City Hall Station, will bypass stops, causing potential delays and substantial walking for those headed to weddings set for later in the afternoon. As concerts and crowd control measures coincide with wedding schedules, there are significant logistical challenges for more than just the concert attendees.

The police department noted that while morning weddings might not face the same traffic restrictions, guests heading to the 4 PM weddings should prepare for potential difficulties due to access challenges created by the concert. This scenario highlights the intersection of popular events and everyday life in Seoul, demonstrating the impact that large crowds can have on local services and celebrations.
