BTS Gwanghwamun Concert on the 21st of Next Month, 260,000 People Expected... Police Focus on Ensuring Safety
Police are preparing for a massive crowd of 260,000 at the upcoming BTS concert in Gwanghwamun, prioritizing safety measures.
A significant event is anticipated next month as the popular K-pop group BTS is set to perform at Gwanghwamun, with police predicting a crowd of around 260,000 attendees including ticket holders and the general public. Police Chief Park Jung-boo announced that the police force is fully mobilizing to ensure public safety during this large-scale event, which involves careful management of crowd control across multiple designated zones. The event will have crucial zones such as core, hot, warm, and cold zones to facilitate crowd management.
The concert is expected to attract a massive influx of people, with estimates suggesting that about 230,000 may gather in front of Gwanghwaemun, and the total could rise to 260,000 if crowds extend to nearby Sungnyemun. To manage this, the police have planned to assign senior officers in charge of each sub-zone and are tasked to oversee safety measures meticulously as the day approaches. There is an emphasis on counting down the time left until the concert, with the police committing to finalize their security deployment as the date nears.
In addition to crowd safety, the police are also vigilant against potential illegal activities related to ticket sales and online threats. Instances of ticket fraud and possible public disorders are being highlighted. Police Chief Park mentioned that a specialized cyber team is monitoring ticket sales to combat fraudulent activities and will enforce appropriate penalties for any offenses that might occur. The police are also preparing numerous response teams to handle any incidents of violence or disorder on the day of the concert, as proactive measures to ensure safety are prioritized throughout the event.
