Police mobilize maximum special forces for 'BTS Gwanghwamun concert'... Metal detectors installed at entrances
Police are implementing a stadium-style crowd management system with metal detectors at entrances for the upcoming BTS concert in Gwanghwamun.
In preparation for the highly anticipated BTS concert scheduled for January 21 in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, police are adopting a stadium-style crowd management approach to control the influx of attendees. The strategy focuses on using designated entry points to ensure that audiences enter the venue safely. Given the current international tensions, particularly in the Middle East, there is heightened awareness and concern regarding possible terror threats, prompting authorities to prepare thoroughly to mitigate any risks.
On January 13, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that they are conducting final safety checks ahead of the concert, acknowledging that the possibility of a terrorist attack cannot be disregarded. To enhance security, they plan to install metal detectors at all 30 entrance points to prevent the entry of dangerous items. Furthermore, they are implementing protective measures along key roads, including placing barricades and police vehicles to prevent potential vehicular attacks. The police special forces will be actively involved in conducting pre-event security inspections alongside these measures.
Additionally, the police are on high alert for possible bomb threats on the day of the concert, stating that a joint response team will be in place to analyze any reported threats and respond proactively. In their official statement, police authorities emphasized that any false reports leading to wasted resources or disruption of the event will be met with strict legal consequences. Overall, the emphasis is on ensuring that attendees feel secure and can enjoy the concert without fear, reflecting the significance of public safety during such large-scale events.
