Adjusting Garbage Collection Schedule in Santo Domingo to Fit Curfew

Santo Domingo has implemented a new garbage collection schedule to align with curfew restrictions due to an ongoing state of emergency.

In Santo Domingo, Ecuador, a new schedule for solid waste collection has been adopted to conform to mobility restrictions imposed by a curfew from 11 PM to 5 AM, as established in Executive Decree 239. This directive affects four provinces, including Santo Domingo de los TsΓ‘chilas, which will continue under these stipulations until the end of the month, during which operations are being executed to dismantle organized crime structures.

The waste management companies, Epconst and Bio City, have communicated that during this 15-day restriction period, residents are required to place their trash out between 5 PM and 8 PM. This timing aims to facilitate nighttime collection and minimize the prolonged presence of waste on streets and sidewalks, ensuring cleaner public spaces amid the enforced curfew.

Additionally, two schedules have been set to manage waste collection across 35 sectors, with 17 sectors being serviced on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while the remaining will follow a different timeline. This measure highlights the local government's response to novel urban challenges posed by the ongoing curfew and public safety concerns, showing a commitment to maintaining public health standards despite challenging conditions.
