The garbage collection service will operate from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM due to the curfew

Garbage collection services in Guayaquil will temporarily change hours to conform with a new curfew.

Due to a recent executive decree establishing a curfew in Ecuador, the garbage collection, sweeping, and transportation of solid waste services in Guayaquil will temporarily adjust their operating hours. Beginning March 15, these services will now run from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This change aims to ensure that garbage trucks can complete their routes, unload waste at the landfill, and return to their facilities before the mobility restrictions enforced from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM over the next 15 days.

The adjustment in operating hours is designed not only to facilitate the garbage collection process but also to enable the personnel responsible for these services to move around the city without complications during the newly imposed hours. By ensuring that services ramp up earlier in the day, the city hopes to maintain cleanliness while adhering to the public safety directive aimed at controlling the spread of events necessitating the curfew.

For residents who may not be able to dispose of their waste during the adjusted collection hours, designated collection centers will remain open from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM, allowing them to deposit their trash without facing penalties for missing the new service times. This proactive step illustrates the municipality's commitment to keeping Guayaquil clean and responsible even amid the restrictions.
