IWD: Four women win LAPO awards, receive N2m

Four women were honored with LAPO awards and received a total of N2 million in cash prizes during the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration in Edo State, Nigeria.

In a celebration marking the 2026 International Women’s Day, the Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) awarded four outstanding women with cash prizes totaling N2 million at the 14th LAPO Outstanding Women Leadership Award ceremony held in Benin, Edo State. The event recognized exceptional achievements in various fields, with Amimashaun Aderayo winning the business category and Adebukola Taiwo taking home the farming award. Nkechi Ajunwa was honored in the professional category, while Dr. Nosakhare Aladeselu received the prestigious lifetime achievement award for her contributions as the founding President of the African Women Empowerment Guild.

Dr. Oyefemi Obazee, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of LAPO, stated that the awards were established to honor and celebrate women who exhibit remarkable success and resilience in their endeavors, particularly those who have collaborated with the organization.
