Nurse and patient die in accident between ambulance and truck in Paraná

A nurse and a patient tragically lost their lives in a collision between an ambulance and a truck in Wenceslau Braz, Brazil.

In a heart-wrenching incident in Wenceslau Braz, Northern Paraná, a nurse and an elderly patient were killed when the ambulance they were in collided with a truck. The victims have been identified as Gislaine Ferreira dos Santos Cruz, 33, and Silvio Ferreira de Almeida, 80. This tragic event unfolded on a Wednesday when both vehicles were on opposite sides of the PR-092 highway, leading to a severe impact that caused the ambulance to overturn.

The State Highway Patrol reported that the driver of the ambulance, aged 55, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while Gislaine and Silvio died at the scene. Their bodies were later collected by the Scientific Police of Jacarezinho. Meanwhile, the truck driver, aged 50, was unharmed and underwent a breathalyzer test which showed no signs of alcohol consumption at the time of the accident.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the accident, leaving open questions about the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life. This incident has drawn attention to road safety, particularly regarding emergency vehicles and their operations in critical situations, emphasizing the need for enhanced safety protocols for both emergency responders and those they serve.
