Ambulance driver dies and three people are injured in serious accident in PA
An ambulance driver died and three others were injured in a severe accident on BR-010 in Pará, Brazil.
On Saturday, an accident on the BR-010 near Ulianópolis and Paragominas resulted in the death of an ambulance driver, identified as Gleidson Patrick Quadros Gomes. The collision, which involved the ambulance and a truck loaded with pineapples, left the front of the ambulance completely destroyed. Alongside the driver, a doctor, a nurse, and a patient’s companion were injured and were transported to the Regional Public Hospital of the East in Paragominas for treatment. Fortunately, the truck driver emerged unscathed.
Witness accounts revealed that the ambulance, which was returning to São Miguel do Guamá after a call in Ulianópolis, collided with the rear of the truck. The firefighters had to be called in for the difficult task of extracting the driver’s body from the wreckage, highlighting the severity of the impact. Efforts to assist the injured were promptly initiated, demonstrating the urgency and critical nature of the situation.
Following the incident, a police inquiry has been launched to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash. This tragic event not only underscores the dangers faced by emergency medical services in Brazil but also raises concerns regarding the safety of transport on the BR-010 highway, often frequented by heavy vehicles. The local government has yet to release further statements regarding additional actions or measures to enhance road safety in light of this incident.
