84-year-old woman dies and three injured in accident between truck and ambulance in PI

An 84-year-old woman died and three others were injured following a collision between a truck and an ambulance in Southern Piauí, Brazil.

An accident on the BR-135 road in Cristino Castro, Piauí, claimed the life of Delza Ribeiro Soares, an 84-year-old woman, after a collision occurred between a truck and an ambulance. The crash happened in the morning, resulting in Soares sustaining fatal injuries and passing away at the scene. Additionally, two passengers and the ambulance driver were injured and subsequently transported to a local hospital by the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu).

The police reported that the accident took place near a notable landmark on the highway, with visuals showing debris from the truck scattered across the road and the ambulance lying abandoned at the roadside. The ambulance involved belonged to the municipality of Monte Alegre do Piauí, prompting attempts by G1 to contact local authorities for further comment on the incident. Fortunately, the truck driver was unharmed in the incident, indicating a discrepancy in the severity of the injuries among those involved.

Emergency responders acted quickly to secure the accident site by cordoning off the affected area on BR-135, facilitating the transport of the injured to a nearby Urgent Care Unit (UPA) in Bom Jesus.
