Avenida Martins Fontes, located at the entrance of Santos in São Paulo's coastal region, has been closed starting Wednesday, October 18, to resume works by Sabesp aimed at implementing a new water network. The blockage is expected to last approximately 60 days. The city of Santos has stated that this phase of the project commenced in September but had to be paused due to increased vehicle traffic during the city's summer operations in December.

Throughout the day, the right lane, which is designated as a bus lane heading towards São Paulo, will remain closed. During nighttime hours from 9 PM to 5 AM, the closure will extend to the second lane, leaving the left lane available for vehicle flow. Municipal authorities have announced that traffic agents from the Santos Traffic Engineering Company (CET-Santos) will be on-site to manage the altered traffic conditions and ensure the public is informed about the changes.

This infrastructural work is crucial for improving the water supply network in Santos, which plays a significant role in supporting the city’s infrastructure needs, especially during the peak tourist season.
