"Police Chief Acting Amid Terror Threat Preparations for BTS Gwanghwamun Concert"
The acting police chief inspected the Gwanghwamun concert venue for BTS, emphasizing safety measures against potential threats as the event approaches.
On the 19th, just two days before BTS's comeback concert, the acting police chief Yoo Jae-sung conducted an on-site check at the Gwanghwamun concert venue in Seoul. During the inspection, he was briefed on the security measures being prepared by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, urging all related agencies, including the event organizers and local government, to collaborate closely for crowd safety management. In light of recent geopolitical tensions, he stressed the importance of being well-prepared for potential terrorist threats.
To manage the expected crowd of around 6,700, the police plan to deploy a significant number of officers and establish 31 gates for crowd control. After the performance, they will maintain a strong police presence to guide the dispersal of attendees safely. In terms of counter-terrorism measures, barricades and vehicle control barriers will be set up along critical roads and side alleys near the venue to block any vehicle incursions. The police are also implementing safety inspections to prevent bomb threats, equipping the gates with metal detectors to restrict entry of dangerous items.
With the concert set to be broadcast live to 190 countries, the acting police chief highlighted the global attention on this event, noting that even minor incidents could significantly impact Koreaβs reputation. He committed to ensuring that the concert concludes without any crowd-related incidents or acts of terrorism, emphasizing the policeβs responsibility to protect both the attendees and the country's image during this high-profile event.
