More than 270 schools participated in the first Artificial Intelligence Day
Over 270 schools in Latvia engaged in the inaugural Artificial Intelligence Day, where students explored AI technologies and their applications.
The first Artificial Intelligence Day in Latvia saw participation from more than 270 schools, including Jelgava Technology Secondary School. During this event, students not only learned about the functionality of artificial intelligence but also experimented hands-on by creating texts, composing music, and working with video content. This initiative aimed to provide students with practical experience and enhance their understanding of modern technologies. Students like Ralfs Dreimanis from the 10th grade expressed their frequent use of AI in daily studies, especially for revising topics before exams and generating assignments. He pointed out that while AI delivers quick responses efficiently, it doesn't always guarantee the accuracy of information. Another student, Martins Rihters, emphasized that AI's availability alleviates the need to search for information across multiple links, thus saving time. Educators also recognized the necessity of integrating artificial intelligence into education, emphasizing that it is a reality students must learn to navigate. The event aimed to raise awareness and encourage discussions about the safe and ethical use of AI tools. The day's activities are part of a broader movement to prepare students for a future where AI will be increasingly prominent in various aspects of life and work in Latvia.
