Announcement offers R$ 10 thousand for reports on oceans and coastal cities

The Conexão Oceano initiative invites journalists to submit proposals for reports on nature-based solutions for coastal cities, offering R$ 10,000 in funding for selected projects.

The Conexão Oceano initiative, launched by the Fundação Grupo Boticário in partnership with UNESCO, is currently accepting applications for journalism proposals focused on environmental reporting. This program specifically targets the exploration of nature-based solutions that address climate change risks and enhance urban resilience in coastal cities. The initiative seeks to fund impactful storytelling that highlights how marine and coastal ecosystems can contribute to better urban living conditions.

Participants can apply individually or in pairs, submitting up to two different proposals each. A requisite of the application process includes providing a letter of approval from a media outlet, which ensures that the selected content will be published. A total of five reporting initiatives will receive funding, each awarded a stipend of R$ 10,000 to support their journalistic endeavors.

This program not only emphasizes the importance of environmental journalism but also encourages the production of content that can inform and educate the public on pressing issues related to climate change and urban adaptation strategies. By engaging experienced journalists and promoting collaboration, the Conexão Oceano initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of the relationship between coastal ecosystems and urban communities.
