Gujarat's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has conducted a significant operation against illegal drug production, resulting in the discovery of a methamphetamine factory in the Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. During the operation, authorities seized approximately ₹20 crore worth of methamphetamine and its precursors, including six kilograms of crystal meth and fifty kilograms of liquid meth, along with a substantial quantity of raw materials. Two suspects were arrested on-site, bringing the total arrests related to this case to five, as three others were detained earlier in Gujarat.

The investigation began on March 1 following a tip-off received by Deputy Superintendent of Police S.L. Chaudhary, which indicated that a drug supply operation was taking place in Ahmedabad. The initial arrest was of a suspect named Shafaat Ahmad Farooqi in the Gomtipur area, where authorities found 4.6 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. Farooqi subsequently revealed the names of two additional suppliers, prompting a rapid expansion of the investigation as the police worked to dismantle the entire drug distribution network.

This operation highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in India, particularly in states like UP where such illegal factories can have far-reaching impacts on public health and safety. The ATS's efforts are part of a broader initiative to curb the illegal drug trade and hold accountable those involved in the production and distribution of narcotics, reflecting a serious commitment to tackling the drug menace in the region.
