The Writers' Union announced a new novel competition
The Estonian Writers' Union has announced a new romanced writing competition open for submissions in Estonian starting February 1, 2027.
The Estonian Writers' Union has officially launched a new competition for novel writers, with the results to be announced next June. The competition invites submissions of novels written in Estonian, which must be previously unpublished and consist of at least 200,000 characters. Manuscripts should be printed in two copies, with a font size of 12 and numbered pages, ensuring a professional standard for entries.
Submissions will be accepted from February 1 to March 1, 2027, and participants must maintain anonymity in their entries. Manuscripts should be labeled with a keyword and submitted in a sealed envelope containing the author's details. The manuscripts can be delivered to any post office package machine at the Kristiine Center in Tallinn, and submissions received before or after the specified window will not be considered.
This competition coincides with the 100th anniversary of the first novel competition organized by the Loodus publishing house, marking a significant moment in Estonia's literary history. This initiative aims to encourage new voices in Estonian literature and continues the tradition of novel writing contests in Estonia, fostering creativity and cultural expression within the country.
