OTE Group begins commercialization of optical fiber services within the framework of the UFBB project
OTE Group has commenced the rollout of fiber-optic internet services, offering speeds up to 1 Gbps as part of the Ultra-Fast Broadband project in Greece.
OTE Group has announced the initiation of its commercial rollout of fiber-optic services under the Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFBB) project, aiming to enhance internet connectivity across Greece. These services provide internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps at both wholesale and retail levels, with initial offerings available in the regional units of Messinia and Rhodope. The company plans to expand its coverage to include parts of Drama, Evros, and Corinth by the end of March, continuing to grow its infrastructure in the months to come.
The UFBB project is a significant investment in improving digital infrastructure, with plans to launch fiber-optic services in more areas across Attica, Evia, Phthiotis, and Chania. This rollout is expected to be substantial, with projections indicating that by the end of the year, over 250,000 lines will be constructed. Additionally, around 150,000 households and businesses will gain access to these high-speed internet services, marking a considerable improvement in connectivity options available to residents and enterprises alike.
As the UFBB project progresses and more areas receive these services, the availability of ultra-high-speed fiber connectivity is anticipated to expand nationwide. This initiative not only aims to meet the growing demand for faster internet services but also seeks to bolster economic growth through improved digital infrastructure, potentially benefiting various sectors including education, e-commerce, and remote work capabilities in Greece.
