Curatorship of the 34th edition bets on a collective celebration of theater

The 34th edition of the Curitiba Festival emphasizes the collective celebration of theater by showcasing a diverse range of performances and highlighting contemporary artistic production in Brazil.

The 34th edition of the Curitiba Festival, one of the largest performing arts events in Latin America, emphasizes the importance of a carefully curated selection of performances that reflect the country's artistic production and the current historical moment. The festival's structure is defined by its curatorial team, which ensures that the audience experiences a variety of artistic expressions across different stages in the city, highlighting the richness and diversity of contemporary theater.

Running until April 12, the festival features award-winning plays, national and international premieres, and esteemed artists and companies. A key aspect of this edition is the Mostra Lucia Camargo, which showcases 28 performances that encapsulate the diverse themes and aesthetics of contemporary theater. This segment aims to provide a platform for different voices and styles, catering to a wide array of audiences and enriching the cultural experience of the festival.

For the past four years, the curation team, comprised of producer and researcher Daniele Sampaio, actress and director Giovana Soar, and philosopher, playwright, and theater critic Patrick Pessoa, has been dedicated to watching numerous performances throughout the year, whether live or through video recordings. Their careful consideration and collective efforts not only shape the festival's programming but also reflect a commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive artistic community, making this year's festival a celebration of the collective nature of theater.
