The 19th edition of the Curta Taquary film festival will feature over 60 short films from across Brazil, starting on March 16 and running through March 22 in various cities.
The Curta Taquary festival, now in its 19th edition, has officially announced its program, set to commence on March 16 in Poção and conclude on March 22 in Taquaritinga do Norte. During the festival, audiences will have the opportunity to see more than 60 short films from a diverse range of genres including fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental. The competitive screenings will mainly be held at the Cine Aurélio in Toritama, one of the last remaining street cinemas in the Agreste region of Brazil, with free sessions taking place from March 18 to 20.
In addition to film screenings, the Curta Taquary festival emphasizes cultural education and environmental awareness through various activities. These activities will include workshops, discussion circles, lectures, and tree planting initiatives across different municipalities in the Agreste. The festival aims not only to showcase film talent from Brazil but also to engage the community in sustainable practices and cultural exchange.
The inclusion of educational and eco-friendly initiatives marks a significant aspect of the festival, highlighting its commitment to fostering a deeper connection between cinema and social responsibility. This year's lineup and programming reflect an effort to create a comprehensive cultural event that not only entertains but also educates and inspires action among attendees, paving the way for future discussions about sustainability in the arts.
