Caruaru Film Festival opens registration for its 13th edition and expands programming with a new international show
The Caruaru Film Festival has opened registrations for its 13th edition, introducing a new international showcase alongside additional competitive categories.
The 13th edition of the Caruaru Film Festival, located in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, Brazil, has commenced registrations for short films. Filmmakers from around the globe can submit their works until April 30, through the festival's official website. This year, the festival is expanding its programming significantly by introducing nine competitive showcases, with a highlight being the newly created International Showcase that will feature productions from countries outside of Latin America.
The festival dates are set from August 5 to 22, where films will be screened both live and at various locations. Eligible films for submission include works completed after January 2025, with a running time not exceeding 20 minutes. It is crucial for submissions to be original to Caruaru, meaning they should not have been shown on open television or made available online. As part of the application process, filmmakers will need to send a copy of their film along with a technical form detailing essential information about the film.
This expansion not only broadens the scope of the festival but also elevates its profile by including a diverse range of international films, promoting cultural exchange and giving local audiences access to a wider variety of cinematic expressions. It marks a significant step for Caruaru in establishing itself as a notable destination for film enthusiasts and creators alike, fostering an environment that nurtures creativity and collaboration in the arts.
