The city of Caruaru has officially announced the complete schedule for the São João de Caruaru 2026 festival, which is set to commence on April 10, 2026. The event will kick off with a traditional procession called the "Caravana do São João na Roça" in the rural district of Lajes, highlighting the cultural significance of the event in the region. In total, there will be 27 entertainment hubs across both urban and rural settings of Caruaru, emphasizing the festival’s inclusive nature and community involvement.
This year's theme is "Tecido de tradições, costurando gerações," which translates to "Fabric of traditions, sewing generations." It aims to reflect the deep-rooted traditions of the São João festival while also connecting various generations through cultural expressions. After the initial rural festivities, the celebration will move into urban areas where major venues such as the Pátio de Eventos, Azulão, and Alto do Moura will host larger gatherings and performances.
The program was unveiled during a launch event at the Centro Multicultural do Alto do Moura, attended by local officials and community leaders, signaling strong governmental support for the festival. This announcement generates excitement for the upcoming celebrations, which are expected to attract both local residents and tourists, thus promoting regional tourism and cultural heritage.
