9th Sesc Film Festival opens registration for independent productions in Pará

The 9th Sesc Film Festival is now accepting registrations for filmmakers from Pará, Brazil, focusing on independent productions.

The 9th Sesc Film Festival has opened its registration period for independent filmmakers in Pará from March 4 to March 31. This annual festival aims to promote and support national independent cinema, inviting submissions for short, medium, and feature films completed from January 1, 2024, onwards, which have not yet been exhibited commercially or on paid streaming platforms.

Selected films will have the opportunity to be showcased in Sesc units across Brazil, and the chosen productions are eligible for licensing agreements totaling up to R$ 255,000. The announcement of selected films is set for July 1. Since its inception in 2017, the festival has licensed around 400 productions and has established itself as a key platform for emerging talent in Brazilian cinema, fostering the growth of new voices and perspectives.

In this edition, filmmakers from 21 Brazilian states can participate, including Pará, with each state allowed to submit two works: one for the Panorama Brazil category and another as a state highlight. This initiative not only aims to elevate independent filmmakers but also emphasizes the importance of regional representation in the cinematic landscape of Brazil, making it a significant event for the country's cultural scene.
