FG unveils ‘fly now, pay later’ credit scheme for domestic flights
The Nigerian government has launched a new credit scheme called 'Fly Now, Pay Later' to enhance access to domestic air travel.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the launch of a new consumer credit product named 'Fly Now, Pay Later', designed to improve accessibility to domestic air travel for its citizens. This initiative, disclosed by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation via their social media, allows eligible customers to book local flights and repay in structured installments, thereby reducing the immediate financial burden that often prevents travelers from undertaking essential trips.
The 'Fly Now, Pay Later' scheme, introduced in partnership with CREDICORP, MyVisaro, and Alert Microfinance Bank, aims to broaden the availability of responsible credit options for Nigerians. With the growing cost of air travel, this innovative financing solution addresses the needs of many who may find it challenging to pay the entire fare upfront, thus promoting increased mobility and economic participation within the country.
Moreover, the initiative is a strategic effort by the Nigerian government to stimulate the domestic travel industry post-pandemic by removing financial barriers. It comes at a time when there is a keen focus on boosting the economy and enhancing infrastructure related to air travel. As citizens embrace new opportunities for travel, this program is expected not only to uplift individual mobility but also to encourage tourism and connectivity across Nigeria.
