In the Jurbarkas region, the police uncovered a suspected vehicle hideout
Police in the Jurbarkas region of Lithuania discovered a hideout for possibly stolen vehicles during a raid.
On March 6, the police from the Jurbarkas police station, under the Marijampolė County Police Headquarters, conducted a raid at warehouses located in the Jurbarkas region. During the search, officials found disassembled parts and nearly new vehicles identified as 'Mercedes-Benz', 'BMW', and 'Ford' that were apparently prepared for resale.
the investigation suggests that these vehicles may have been stolen in foreign countries, raising concerns about cross-border vehicle theft and trafficking networks operating in the region. The discovery may indicate a more extensive operation at play, where organized crime is involved in stealing and reselling vehicles across borders.
As a result of the findings, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated at the Jurbarkas police station in accordance with Article 189, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. The Kaunas District Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the investigation from Marijampolė, indicating a structured approach to dealing with organized crime related to vehicle theft in the area.
