Thieves broke into a car wash's coin safe, even a fence didn't stop them – it was stolen
A recent burglary at a car wash in Jurbarkas, Lithuania, where thieves broke into a coin safe and stole a fence nearby, has prompted police to launch an investigation.
On February 27 at around 2:19 AM, a car wash located on V. Kudirkos Street in Jurbarkas was broken into, with thieves forcibly opening money containers. Preliminary reports indicate that the crime occurred during the night, and authorities are currently assessing the damage and confirming how much money may have been stolen. Additionally, this incident marks the second burglary in the area within a short period, raising concerns about crime in the region.
The police have indicated that an investigation is underway according to Article 178, part 3 of the Lithuanian Penal Code, which deals with theft charges. They are examining the circumstances surrounding the crime as well as identifying potential suspects. The local law enforcement agency is taking the matter seriously following another theft that occurred less than a day earlier, where a individual reported the theft of a twelve-segment fence in the neighboring Birbiliškės village on February 26, leading to similar criminal charges.
In light of these incidents, law enforcement officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and protect their property. They encourage the public to report any suspicious individuals or activities promptly to aid in the ongoing investigations and to help maintain community safety as such crimes can contribute to a growing sense of insecurity among local residents.
